Confirmation and ordination in churches of Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in Iraq
NINEVEH PLAIN, Iraq — For first time in years, the Chaldean Archbishop of Alqosh Mor Boulos Thabet ordained 12 deacons and deaconesses in Mor Yousef Chaldean Church.
The ordination was attended by archbishops, priests, nuns, Choir of Mor Gorgis Church from Tel Skuf village, families of the ordained deacons and deaconesses, as well as a large gathering of parishioners.
The archbishop congratulated the ordained deacons and deaconesses, calling on them to adhere to church teachings and service so that their ordination would bear beneficial spiritual results.
In related news, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Baghdede in the Nineveh Plain hosted the Confirmation of 195 children.
The Mass was led by Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul and its Environs Mor Younan Hinno, in the presence of archbishops, priests, families of the children and a large gathering of believers.
During his sermon, the archbishop addressed the parents and children and talked about spiritual upbringing.
The number of children who participated in the 2024 Confirmation events reached 234 children.
