Australia sues Musk’s X over Mar Mari Emmanuel stabbing posts
SYDNEY — Social media platform X stated that it would challenge in court an order from an Australian regulator demanding the company remove some posts related to the stabbing of Mar Mari Emmanuel in Sydney.
The X videos showed the 16-year-old boy, who is accused of committing a terrorist crime, restrained by the congregation and shouting accusations that Emmanuel had insulted Islam.
X’s Global Government Affairs posted on Saturday that the Australian eSafety Commissioner had ordered it to remove certain posts in Australia that publicly commented on the recent attack against a Christian archbishop, because the posts sowed discord and fear in the hearts of the residents.
The X non-compliance will subject it to a daily fine of A$785,000 ($500,000).
The X believes that eSafety’s order was not within the scope of Australian law and we complied with the directive pending a legal challenge.
“The eSafety Commissioner does not have the authority to dictate what content X’s users can see globally,” X stated.
In related news, Haddad, a Syriac 45-year-old named was arrested during the attack on the archbishop, because of his insistence on killing the archbishop attacker.
After days in detention, he apologized and was released on bail.
