Joint statement of Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Melkite Orthodox patriarchates on Syriac archbishops abduction

DARAMSUQ —  On the 11th anniversary of kidnapping the Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Holeb (Aleppo) Youhanna Ibrahim and Syriac Melkite Archbishop of Holeb (Aleppo) Bulos Yazji, Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Melkite Orthodox patriarchates issued a joint statement condemning the human tragedy that targeted the Christian presence in the East.

The statement stated that the Archbishops abduction refuses to turn into a memory because it is present in the heart of every Christian and Orientalist.

The statement of the two patriarchates stressed that the Christian presence in this homeland is a testimony to the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved them, so they also loved the Lord Jesus Christ with a preserved faith.

The statement called for an end to the tragedy of the two archbishops.

“It is time for this dossier to end, at least by announcing the truth, whether it was good or bad,” the statement added.

The statement stressed the steadfastness of Christians on this land, pointing out that there is no force in the universe that can shake them.

“The strength we rely on is our reliance on the Lord Jesus Christ, who enrooted us in the East and engraved his gospel in our hearts,” the statement concluded.
