Armenians of Holeb (Aleppo) in Syria commemorate the 1915 Armenian Genocide
HOLEB, Syria —The Armenian Genocide that was committed against the Armenian people by the Ottoman Empire in 1915, led to the martyrdom of one and a half million Armenians, as well as their displacement and seizure of property.
Earlier, the Armenians of Holeb (Aleppo) in Syria held a commemoration event for the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
The heads of the Armenian churches, associations and institutions participated in the commemoration event.
The participants headed from the Midan neighborhood towards the Armenian cemeteries, holding candles and slogans that call on the international community to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
The participants also called for obtaining the rights of peoples of the world, and restoring the Armenian people rights from Turkey.
The event concluded with emphasis on the Armenian people resistance, the restoration of their historical heritage and culture, as well as coexistence among all ethnic components of the region under the umbrella of brotherhood of peoples.
