After the name of kidnapped Syriac Orthodox archbishop Youhanna Ibrahim, a library opened in a Swedish Church

ESKILSTUNA, Sweden —  On 11th anniversary of the abduction of the two Syriac Archbishops of Holeb (Aleppo) Youhanna Ibrahim and Bulos Yazji, and at the initiative of Assyrian Observatory for Human Rights, a library was opened in the name of archbishop Youhanna  Ibrahim in the Ansgars church, Eskilstuna in Sweden.

The opening ceremony began with a musical performance by the Scout Brass Band of Mary Virgin Church in Norrköping.

The opening ribbon was cut in the presence of dignitaries and clergy of Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people in Sweden.

The Executive Director of the Assyrian Observatory for Human Rights Jamil Diyarbakirli noted that Eskilstuna city, where thousands of Syriac people live, recalls for the first time after 11 years, the abduction of the Syriac archbishops.

Diyarbakirli pointed out that this issue symbolizes the tragedy of the Christians of the East in the modern era, which carries many issues specific to Syriac people, including kidnapping, forced absenteeism, displacement, demographic change and property diversion.

He also stressed the need to pay attention to Syriac people issues and defend them by peaceful, civil and human rights methods.
