European Syriac Union to celebrate 20th anniversary of its founding
BRUSSELS — On the advent of the 20th anniversary of founding the European Syriac Union (ESU), ESU Co-Chair Manuela Demir heightened ESU prominent works and strategy.
“One of the most prominent issues that ESU has been interested in is the Sayfo Genocide. Through protests and demands within international forums, the ESU has been seeking to recognize the 1915 Sayfo Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire against the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian, Armenian and Pontic-Greek peoples,” Demir stated.
Demir added that the ESU is also active in the diplomatic field to develop relations with world countries, political parties and institutions to obtain the rights of Syriac people at the homeland of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) and abroad.
The ESU Co-Chair touched upon the preparations they are making to celebrate the ESU founding anniversary event, during which clergy, politicians, as well as Syriac and German representatives and institutions will participate, in addition to a gathering of the Syriac people.
