US strategy in Middle East sparks concerns in Lebanon

BEIRUT — The US’s approach to the Middle East, particularly Lebanon, has raised numerous questions regarding its plans, implementations, and negotiation strategies with multiple parties amidst the ongoing military situation.

Legitimate concerns have emerged among Lebanese citizens that any resolution or settlement in the Middle East may come at the expense of Lebanon and its people, particularly its Christian population.

Political sources have indicated a US apprehension about its eroding influence in the region, with a heightened focus on Israel’s security, existence, and regional role. This concern was highlighted by media outlet Al-Jumhuriya.

Additionally, the sources revealed ongoing negotiations between the U.S. and Iran across various fronts, exploring the potential for negotiations or settlements to secure temporary, if not lasting, stability.

While the US is seen as prioritizing halting confrontations and mitigating Israel’s losses, concerns remain about Lebanon’s political, economic, and social future, especially for its Christian communities. According to the sources, this is not currently a top priority for the US administration.
