Crisis cell formed in North and East Syria to protect harvest and municipal elections

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) established a crisis cell to safeguard the upcoming wheat harvest and prepare for the Municipal Elections scheduled for later this month.

This decision emerged as the key outcome of the regular meeting of the Executive Council in North and East Syria, alongside the High Electoral Commission.

The crisis cell will focus on protecting agricultural lands and crops from potential fires, utilizing available resources to ensure essential services for residents.

During the meeting, preparations for the Municipal Elections were discussed, alongside plans to activate and implement internal controls within institutions.

Additionally, the Co-Chairs of the High Electoral Commission evaluated the progress of ongoing political bloc elections in the cantons, enabling successful candidates to participate in the municipal elections.

Winners of political parties’ elections, as well as independent figures and representatives from various ethnic communities, will have the opportunity to contest the municipal elections in North and East Syria, under the supervision of the High Electoral Commission.
