Bethnahrin National Council official Echoua Gouriye discusses regional implications of conflict in Gaza with Suroyo FM
ZALIN, North and East Syria — In a recent episode of the Suroyo FM program “Political Files,” member of the Presidential Committee of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) Echoua Gouriye discussed the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with a particular focus on the conflict surrounding the Rafah area and its strategic importance.
Gouriye explained that Israel is determined to storm and control Rafah due to its significance in the war. “Israel will not allow the Palestinians to stay in Gaza,” he stated. “It has even proposed evacuating them to Egypt and Jordan.”
He highlighted the lack of precise statistics on the losses suffered by Hamas, making it difficult to assess who is winning the war. “Hamas is still resisting, while Israel has not managed to free all the hostages, which is why it declared war,” Gouriye added.
Gouriye also commented on the US warnings to Israel not to storm Rafah, suggesting they are not serious. Israel is in constant coordination with the US, he asserted, evidenced the unified response to Iran’s missile attack despite increasing US reservations about the war in Gaza.
Regarding the role of Arab countries in the Palestinian issue, Gouriye noted a shift in their approach over time. “After decades of Arab threats to eliminate Israel, they are now seeking more rational solutions through dialogue and peace,” he concluded.
