Turkish occupation continues to burn crops in North and East Syria amid international silence
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Turkish occupation forces in northern Syria persist in their campaign of destruction against the areas governed by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), targeting agricultural crops to deprive residents of their livelihoods and cripple the region’s economy. This ongoing assault has drawn widespread condemnation from the local population, who criticize the international community’s silence on these violations.
The Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) have set fire to farmlands in the western countryside of Tel Tamr, including the villages of Al-Qasimiya, Al-Jamiliya, Al-Aziziyah, and Al-Daoudia, as well as Abdel Salam Sharqi and Abdel Salam Gharbi. Despite the efforts of local emergency committees and residents to extinguish the fires, significant damage has been inflicted.
These destructive acts have also extended to the countryside of Mabbug (Manbij) and Abu Rasayn (Zarkan), where further agricultural lands have been set ablaze, resulting in substantial material losses. The deliberate burning of crops by these factions is seen as an attempt to destabilize the region’s economy and undermine the local population’s ability to sustain themselves.
