European Syriac Union marks 20th anniversary
BRUSSELS — On 15 May 2004, the European Syriac Union (ESU) was officially established in Brussels, marking a new stage in the struggle for freedom, democracy, and justice for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people.
The ESU was founded as a platform for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, with the presence of political, social, and cultural figures, as well as activists from across Europe.
On this anniversary, the ESU issued a statement congratulating the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and highlighting its mission to recognize their rights, address their affairs, and create a bridge for communication between Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) and the diaspora.
The ESU expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to its establishment and emphasized its ongoing struggle for the recognition of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) identity and existence.
The ESU also congratulated its members, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, and the families of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) martyrs, stating, “The sacrifices of the Syriac people will bear fruit in a bright future, as we continue to follow in the footsteps of the martyrs until achieving our goals.”
