22 political parties form alliance for upcoming municipal elections in North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In preparation for the municipal elections scheduled for June, 22 political parties, including the Syriac Union Party (Gabo d’Huyodo Suryoyo, SUP), announced the formation of the “Alliance of Peoples and Women for Freedom.”
The announcement was made during a conference held at the Democratic Union Party (Partiya Yekîtiya Demokrat, PYD) building in Hasakah, North and East Syria. In attendance was Simon Girgis, Member of SUP Executive Body.
During the conference, a statement was read declaring that the new Social Contract recently adopted by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) is a reflection of coexistence and unity of the people of the region. The statement emphasized that the municipal elections represent a significant step towards developing the democratic system and enhancing local and regional autonomous administrations.
The newly formed political bloc expressed their commitment to participating in the electoral process to ensure its success and strengthen the democratic framework. They highlighted their goal to advance service delivery, foster a free democratic society with women’s leadership, and promote initiatives that lead to self-sufficiency and a robust community economy.
