Election quota seats restored in Kurdistan Regional Parliament following court ruling and appeal

ANKAWA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — In a significant development, the Judicial Authority for Elections in Iraq reinstated the quota seats in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, in line with an appeal by Youssef Yacoub Matti, Chairman of Beth Nahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA).

Previously, the Board of Commissioners issued a resolution cancelling the quota seats for minorities in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.

This decision aimed to correct the injustice faced by the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people, and other minority peoples, in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.
