Renovated Syriac Orthodox church in Batman, Turkey converted to a museum
BATMAN, TAURKEY — Official of Batman Antiquities and Tourism in Turkey Ehsan Aslani stated that Monastery and Church of Mor Quraykus, which dates back to 1600 years, will be converted to a museum.
The Batman Directorate of Heritage and Tourism reported that the renovation work of the monastery, which was built in the year 400 A.D., and has a length of about 2500 m, has been completed, indicating that its buildings and saints’ rooms have been completely restored.
Before its conversion to a museum, its wall and outer courtyard were repaired. Furthermore, special rooms were built for visitors.
Aslani declared that the renovation work was carried out in order to hold prayers there and attract tourists from abroad.
