Syriac Maronite Patriarch Al-Rai inaugurates road projects and calls for electing a president for Lebanon
BAALBEK, Lebanon — Amid the exacerbated Lebanese crises, the Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Butros al-Rai and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun inaugurated a series of road projects in the Ras Baalbek area, including a road to the cave of the Mor Maron Monastery -Assi to facilitate the citizens movement.
The Syriac Maronite Patriarchate pointed out that the road projects constitute a significant milestone in the transportation of the town of the Syriac Maronite community, due to the importance of the cave which was a starting point for Mor Maron students to preach in the North and Mount Lebanon.
“While you are opening roads, others are closing roads,” Al-Rai addressed the Army Commander, calling for opening all roads to each other.
Al-Rai pointed out that they are waiting for the parliament to elect a president for the unity of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.
“Without an elected president, there will be no existence of the state and institutions, and this cannot be accepted,” the patriarch added, indicating that the delay in electing a president is unacceptable to the international community and the Lebanese people.
