Bethnahrin National Council celebrates anniversary in Switzerland with emphasis on national unity and struggle
ZURICH — Members and supporters of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) gathered in Switzerland to celebrate the anniversary of the Council’s establishment. The event was attended by Council President Naim Mikhail Haddo, who delivered a speech highlighting the history of their national struggle.
The celebration commemorated the first founding conference held in the mountains of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) on 18 June 2000. For twenty-four years, the MUB has continued its liberation struggle, advocating for national unity and the self-representation of their people in Beth Nahrin and worldwide. Consequently, 8 June has become an annual tradition, celebrated by Council members and supporters across generations.
At the event, held at the headquarters of the MUB in Switzerland, members and supporters engaged in discussions about the Council’s ongoing efforts. President Haddo provided a comprehensive analysis of the current political landscape, addressing both the challenges and achievements of the Council, which have been realized through their collective determination.
Haddo emphasized the critical importance of continuing their commitment to ensuring international recognition of the 1915 Sayfo Genocide, striving for recognition of the massacres endured by their people. The celebration underscored the MUB’s dedication to preserving their heritage and advancing their mission for national unity and justice.
