Administration of North and East Syria expresses solidarity with victims of fires in Turkey, criticizes government response

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) announced its solidarity with the families of the victims of the fires that broke out in Merdo (Mardin) and Omid (Diyarbakir) in Turkey, which have so far claimed 15 lives.

The DAARNES statement confirmed full solidarity with the families of the fire victims, extending its deepest condolences and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The statement criticized the Turkish authorities for their failure to provide humanitarian and political support to the families of the victims, particularly since they live in Kurdish-majority areas.

“The Turkish government’s actions only exacerbate the war of extermination against the Kurds in the region,” the statement read.
