Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II meets with Hungarian President in Budapest

BUDAPEST — On Tuesday, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited President of Hungary Dr. Tamás Sulyok in Budapest.

Accompanying the Patriarch were Bishop Mor Okin Al-Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary, and Dr. Mtanis Al-Awail, President of the Syriac Orthodox Church Association in Hungary.

During the visit, they discussed the rich history of the Syriac Orthodox Church and its significant role in spreading the Christian faith. The conversation also covered Hungary’s support for the Church in various areas, particularly in defending persecuted Christians and providing relief after last year’s earthquake.

The Patriarch also congratulated President Sulyok on his position and wished him success in his endeavors.
