Syriac Catholic Archdiocese of Mosul in Iraq calls on Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Sudani to stop violations in Nineveh

NINEVEH, Iraq — The Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul in Iraq Mor Benedict Younan Hinno called on Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani to stop violations of the uncontrolled forces, which threaten security and stability in Nineveh Governorate.

 

The Archdiocese of Mosul confirmed in its letter that it trusts Al-Sudani efforts to achieve his government agenda, which they support.

 

“There are political parties working against this agenda. This leads to instilling fear and anxiety in the souls of the remaining Christians in the Nineveh Plain and Mosul,” Hinno added.

 

The archdiocese mentioned the repeated attacks on the church guard, a military officer, as well as attempts to change the directors of the departments who do not belong to certain parties.

 

The archdiocese called on Al-Sudani to stop violations of the uncontrolled forces that threaten security and stability in Nineveh in order to enable Christians to live with dignity under the protection of the Iraqi state.
