U.S. Embassy in Syria: We will continue to shed light on human rights violations in Syria

DARAMSUQ — The U.S. Embassy in Syria stated via Facebook that it will continue to shed light on human rights violations in Syria, coinciding with the anniversary of Bashar al-Assad’s assumption of the Syrian presidency.

“Bashar al-Assad was confirmed as president of Syria on July 10, 2000. Since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011, his regime has been a source of regional instability, committing grave atrocities against its own people and creating a dire humanitarian crisis due to corruption and economic mismanagement,” the Embassy declared.

The Embassy noted that the U.S. will work to strengthen accountability for those responsible for human rights violations in Syria.
