Administration of North and East Syria issues general amnesty law following National Unity Forum

RAQQA, Syria — In response to the demands of the 2nd National Unity Forum of Syrian Clans and Ethnic Components, the Peoples’ Democratic Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) issued a general amnesty law during a meeting held in Raqqa, North and East Syria.

Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Council, Siham Quryo, stated that the Council ratified the general amnesty law, which covers crimes committed by Syrians before 7 July 2024. She emphasized that this amnesty aims to allow those not involved in bloodshed to reintegrate into normal life, reflecting the outcomes of the forum held in Hasakah.

An official from the Peoples’ Democratic Council noted that the amnesty law aligns with the General Penal Code in North and East Syria. “It provides a chance for joint living and allows those misled to integrate back into society, promoting civil peace,” he added.
