Assyrian Church of the East Archbishop Mar Odisho Oraham receives Athra Alliance delegation in Stockholm
STOCKHOLM — Assyrian Church of the East Archbishop of Scandinavia and Germany Mar Odisho Oraham received a delegation from the Athra Alliance at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden.
The Athra Alliance delegation included representatives from the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO), the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), and the Assyrian Democratic Movement.
They discussed recent political developments in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) and the consensus among parties and organizations of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. The aim is to unite their voices and demands to better serve the interests of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community.
The delegation also spoke about the solidarity among Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) political parties and organizations in Sweden, aiming to bring them together for joint political action. They revealed an agenda that includes visits to Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) parties and organizations in Sweden, holding lectures in several Swedish cities, and organizing joint activities and events.
The archbishop expressed his happiness with the agreement and blessed all joint efforts aimed at serving the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people’s interests. “As a church, we are ready to activate joint work with the solidarity parties and organizations of [Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean)] people in Sweden,” he stated.
He also inquired about the situation of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Beth Nahrin and stressed the need for joint efforts to enable Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people to remain in their homeland.
At the end of the meeting, photos were taken of the archbishop with the members of the visiting delegation.
