IRAQ: Syriac Orthodox Church in Bartella honors top students in special ceremony

BARTELLA, Iraq — Under the patronage of Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Timotheus Mousa Shamani of the Diocese of Mor Matti’s Monastery and its Environs, the Syriac Orthodox Church in Bartella held an event to honor outstanding students.

The ceremony, held in the Hall of the Syriac Orthodox Cultural Center in Bartella, honored 165 male and female students from various educational stages. The Church warmly welcomed the students and their families, taking photos before the event began.

Archbishop Shamani honored the top students, presenting them with shields and gifts, and wishing them continued success. The celebration also included many competitions and activities in which students participated, both in church and public events.

This recognition had a significant impact on the students and attendees, providing much-needed support and encouragement amid the difficult circumstances faced by the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community.
