USUP President Mrad condemns Hezbollah’s influence, calls for civil disobedience across Lebanon
BEIRUT — Amid ongoing fears that Lebanon will become a battleground due to Hezbollah’s actions, Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) and Secretary General of the Christian Front in Lebanon, criticized the caretaker government’s inaction, emphasizing their seeming subservient to Iranian leadership.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Mrad asserted that Hezbollah has devastated southern Lebanon, displaced its residents, crippled the economy, paralyzed state institutions, and caused numerous deaths as part of an Iranian agenda to support terrorist organizations in other countries. This, he claimed, is evidenced by secret negotiations between Hezbollah and Israel to demarcate land borders.
Mrad further criticized the maritime border demarcation, accusing Hezbollah of surrendering Lebanon’s wealth to Israel through the official signatures of the ruling authorities at the time.
He called on sovereign parties to take bold action where others hesitate, urging free citizens to engage in civil disobedience and uprisings against the militia to amplify demands for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1559.
Mrad also warned against the potential consequences of “selling Lebanon and its people to Iran at the cheapest prices,” cautioning that regret will come too late.
