Syriac Women’s Union celebrates founding, honors struggle and achievements
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women marked a significant milestone with the founding of the Syriac Women’s Union (SWU), an organization dedicated to social, cultural, and political goals. The SWU is committed to building a free, advanced society grounded in justice, peace, and equality, ensuring the rights of Syriac (Aramean–Chaldean–Assyrian) women and preserving their cultural heritage.
On the SWU’s founding anniversary, the Union honored Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women who have transformed their sufferings from persecutions, massacres, and exterminations into a sophisticated and effective organizational movement.
The SWU statement highlighted that Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women have organized themselves and played active roles in all spheres of life, overcoming numerous difficulties and restrictions. They have increased their efforts and united to exercise their historical role, developing their potential and skills within all institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB).
The SWU emphasized the importance of developing a strategy and a future vision for the struggle and sacrifice of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women, asserting that society cannot achieve liberation without first ensuring the liberation of women.
