Pentagon reaches plea agreement with three defendants charged with planning September 11th attacks
GUANTANAMO, Cuba — Three men accused of planning the 9/11 terrorist attacks targeting the US have agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy charges in exchange for life sentences, avoiding a trial that could result in the death penalty, in Guantanamo, Cuba.
The Pentagon stated that Brigadier General Susan K. Escallier, in charge of the Military Commissions in the US Army, has concluded pre-trial agreements with three of the defendants.
The three defendants will face a mini-trial, but not before next year, requiring the judge to accept the confessions and form a military jury to hear the evidence and deliver a verdict.
