Swiss screening of ‘Souls in Transit’ to highlight historical and modern genocides

BERN, Switzerland — The film Souls in Transit, which has been shown in various countries and cities, will be screened again at the Kino Rex cinema in Bern, Switzerland, on 3 September.

Ida Schleifer, the director of Souls in Transit, explained that the film explores the ethnic genocide targeting the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) known as the Sayfo and connects these historical events with the massacres committed by the Islamic State (ISIS) against the people of Nineveh Plains in Iraq.

The film, suitable for viewers over 12 years old, will be presented in Syriac and Arabic with German subtitles.

The screening will be attended by Father Priest Karim Asmar from the Syriac Orthodox Church and the film’s writer and director, Ida Schleifer. Schleifer will give a speech at the end of the screening to discuss the film’s purpose.

Following the viewing, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the film, share their comments on the narrative, acting, and other details. The film has garnered significant attention during its recent screenings.
