Statue of Our Lady of The Orient erected in Homs, Syria

HMOTH, Syria —   Under the name “Our Lady of The Orient“, Virgin Mary was honored in an event in Al-Hawash in the countryside of Hmoth (Homs).

 

The event shed light on the new edifice which includes several facilities, including a huge statue of Our Lady Virgin Mary on a hill rising 400 m above sea level.

 

The edifice is mediated by an 11-story tower and 52 m long. The visitor can reach the statue top through a ladder or elevator.

 

The statue was transported from the junction of the Wadi Al-Nasara in Syria to the location of the edifice with a solemn procession.

 

The celebration began with the playing of the scout bands of Al-Hawash, Anaz and Al-Mazina, as well as the participation of the Mor Elian Al-Homsi Choir and the Mosaic band.

 

Then, artists Myrna Al-Malouhi and Rona Noufel performed songs. Prayers will be held today morning to protect Syria. The church will be consecrated on Sunday morning.

 

The edifice includes a square under the tower, a Byzantine-style church that can accommodate about 300 believers, a ticket sales room with distinctive pieces dedicated to the Lady of The Orient edifice.

In addition to a large hall, which can accommodate 150 people.

 

The edifice was also equipped with an advanced lighting system, monitoring networks, with renewable electric energy.
