Macron and Jordan’s King Abdullah II urge restraint amid rising Middle East tensions
PARIS / AMMAN — Amid escalating tensions between Israeli actions and Iranian reactions, the Middle East remains on edge, with calls for calm juxtaposed against American military reinforcements.
In a phone conversation, French President Emmanuel Macron and Jordanian King Abdullah II urged for de-escalation in the region. They expressed their deep concern over the increasing tensions and called on all parties to avoid retaliation, exercise restraint, and take responsibility for ensuring the security of their populations.
According to the Jordanian News Agency, King Abdullah reaffirmed the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, adhering to the two-state solution framework.
The G7 nations also issued a statement urging all parties in the Middle East to refrain from actions that could lead to further military escalation. They highlighted that the recent developments could broaden the scope of the crisis in the region and expressed their deep concern over the ongoing situation.
