Administration of North and East Syria begins construction of new obstetrics and children’s hospital in Zalin
ZALIN, North and East Syria — In a bid to enhance services for residents, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East of Syria (DAARNES) is focusing on improving infrastructure through various projects, including the construction of an obstetrics and children’s hospital in the Jamayya neighborhood in eastern Zalin (Qamishli).
In comments to SyriacPress, Maather Al-Abbas, co-chair of the Health Authority in Al-Jazira Province, shared updates on the project. The construction of the hospital’s foundation and basement has been completed, and work has now commenced on the ground floor.
Al-Abbas explained that the hospital will cover an area of 280 square meters, with an estimated cost exceeding $3 million. The construction and equipment of the hospital are projected to be completed within 500 days from the start date. The Al-Jazeera Construction Company has been commissioned to build the facility, which will have the capacity to accommodate 100 beds.
The hospital will feature specialized departments for performing caesarean sections, natural deliveries, and be equipped with newborn incubators, along with a section for daily examinations, all under the supervision of specialized doctors. Al-Abbas noted that all services will be offered for a nominal fee to cover a portion of the costs.
