Catholic University in Erbil launches educational series on history of Christianity in Iraq
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — Iraq and Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) are among the earliest regions where Christianity spread.
The Catholic University in Erbil, located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), has started recording 14 educational episodes to spread knowledge and promote a deep understanding of the history of Christianity in Iraq, from its emergence to the present time.
The series is supervised by Father Mansour al-Mukhlisi and contains accurate information and explanatory materials in English, with plans to record another series in Arabic later.
This series specifically targets expatriate Christians and members of Eastern churches, as well as the Western Christian community, so they can learn more about the Eastern Church.
It covers the various historical eras that Christianity has experienced in Iraq, including the Persian, Umayyad, Abbasid, Mongol, and Ottoman periods. It also highlights the history of the divisions within the Eastern Church. Each episode ends with assessment questions to help learners review their information and ensure they fully understand the content.
The English version of this series is expected to be available free of charge on the Catholic University website in September.
