SYRIA: Syriac Union Party holds event in Dayrik making 11th anniversary of leader Saeed Malke’s illegal arrest by Syrian regime

DAYRIK, North and East Syria — On the 11th anniversary of the illegal arrest of Syriac leader Saeed Malke by the Syrian regime, the Syriac Union Party’s (SUP) Dayrik (Malikiyah) Branch held a commemoration event to mark his abduction.

The event was attended by members of the Local Council of the Syriac Orthodox Church, representatives of political parties, civil society organizations in North and East Syria, and national figures and institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB).

The commemoration began with a moment of silence in remembrance of martyrs. Afram Ishaq, a member of the SUP Executive Body, then delivered a speech on behalf of the party. Ishaq highlighted the life and contributions of Syriac activist and leader Saeed Malke through a documentary.

The event was secured by the Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) and Sutoro Women.
