Hamas claims Israeli hostage killed, two others injured in Gaza
GAZA STRIP — A spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, Abu Obaida, announced that one of the Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip was killed by a guard assigned to monitor him, while two others were seriously injured in separate incidents.
“In two separate incidents, guards shot and killed one hostage and seriously injured two others,” Abu Obaida stated. “Efforts are underway to save their lives.”
He added that the Tel Aviv government bears full responsibility for these incidents and the subsequent reactions that could endanger the lives of Israeli prisoners. He also mentioned that a committee has been formed to investigate the details of these incidents.
The Israeli Army has not yet confirmed or denied the claims made by Hamas regarding the death of a hostage and the injury of two others.
Current estimates from Tel Aviv suggest that 115 Israeli prisoners are being held by Palestinian factions in Gaza. Hamas has claimed that more than 70 of these prisoners were killed in Israeli airstrikes, while Israel continues to detain at least 9,500 Palestinians in its prisons.
