IRAQ: Beth Nahrin Youth hosts 2nd leadership camp at Mor Behnam Monastery in Baghdede

BAGHDEDE, Iraq — Under the slogan “Today’s Youth Are Future Leaders,” Beth Nahrin Youth held its second camp at the Syriac Catholic Monastery of the Martyrs Mar Behnam and Marth Sarah in the Nineveh Plains town of Baghdede, Iraq, from 8–11 August.

The camp, which brought together 58 male and female youth aged 14 to 18, featured a range of activities, including classes, lectures, workshops, and entertainment competitions.

The lectures covered topics such as youth participation in management and community building, personality types, the importance of political and intellectual awareness among youth, the concept of forced migration, the ethics of dialogue, and the concept of organization.

The sessions were supervised by Baghdede Mayor Issam Behnam Matti, head of the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) Youssef Yacoub Matti, Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul and its Environs Mor Younan Hinno, and members of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), Ablahad Saka and Shmuni Arsan.

This marks the 10th HBA camp aimed at gathering Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian youth to strengthen their organizational and educational development.
