President of Universal Syriac Union Party Ibrahim Mrad condemns Hezbollah amid rising tensions with Israel
BEIRUT — Amid growing fears of a potential war between Israel and Hezbollah following Hezbollah’s revelation of hidden missiles in Lebanon, Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) and Secretary General of the Christian Front in Lebanon, strongly condemned Hezbollah, labeling the group as a terrorist organization.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Mrad criticized Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah for threatening Israel with war for the past 30 years while steadily increasing his party’s control over the Lebanese state under the guise of destroying Israel and liberating Jerusalem.
Mrad emphasized that no normal country would tolerate the repeated outbreak of wars in Lebanon, the destruction of southern villages, and the resulting casualties and displacement of civilians. He argued that Hezbollah is not destroying Israel but rather Lebanon, displacing its people, and establishing Iranian bases to bolster Tehran’s negotiating power with the international community at Lebanon’s expense.
He reiterated his call for the United Nations to enforce UN Security Council Resolution No. 1559 under Chapter VII, asserting that federalism is the solution for Lebanon’s future.
Mrad accused Hezbollah of prioritizing its political, ideological, financial, and organizational ties with Iran over the well-being of Lebanon, claiming that the group seeks only to sabotage Lebanon, alter its demographics, and collapse its economy.
He dismissed accusations of treason made by Hezbollah against its opponents, countering that Hezbollah itself is guilty of treason by destroying the country and inviting foreign influence. Mrad urged the free people of Lebanon to stand firm and confront Hezbollah, stressing the importance of maintaining their dignity and not succumbing to fear.
