Aylin Aslaner-Chahin: First Syriac woman to reach finals of two prestigious German awards
BERLIN — Aylin Aslaner-Chahin has become the first Syriac woman to reach the finals of two prestigious awards in Germany.
Born in Istanbul, Aslaner-Chahin moved to Germany at the age of 12 due to a serious illness. Despite overcoming significant health challenges, including surviving cancer twice, she has forged a successful career in technology and public service.
After earning an engineering degree from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Aslaner-Chahin discovered her passion for information technology and software. She joined Microsoft in 2012, where she worked alongside her two brothers for over eight years, forming a unique trio within the company.
Currently, Aslaner-Chahin leads Zoom’s Public Sector Team in Germany, a role she has held for the past three years.
She is now calling on the Syriac community and supporters of diversity in technology to vote for her in the “Women in e-Government Award,” which honors leaders driving innovation and progress in the public sector, and the “2024 Pollunit Inspiration Award.”
