Democratic Peoples’ Council of Gozarto approves major administrative changes during 10th session in Amuda, North and East Syria

AMUDA, North and East Syria — In a significant gathering, the Democratic Peoples’ Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Canton convened its 10th session in Amuda, North and East Syria, attended by the co-chairships of the Executive and Legislative Councils, as well as the Advisor to the Executive Council. The session saw active participation from 81 council members.

After affirming the legality of the session, the minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. The Council also reviewed its activities during the interim period. A key proposal to dissolve the now defunct Hasakah and Zalin (Qamishli) Cantons was presented and subsequently approved following a vote. The administrative boundaries of Hasakah and Zalin District — situated within Gozarto Canton — remain unchanged.

The session also sanctioned the establishment of the Authority for the Affairs of Martyrs’ Families in Gozarto (Jazira) Canton and elevated the Energy Office to the status of the Energy Authority, in alignment with the social contract. Additionally, letters from the Executive Council concerning the appointment of candidates for the joint presidency of various bodies were read and approved.

The session concluded with the Budget Committee presenting a report on the current health situation in Gozarto Canton, highlighting the Council’s ongoing commitment to addressing critical regional issues.
