President of Universal Syriac Union Party Ibrahim Mrad calls for civil disobedience against Iranian militias

BEIRUT — In a move reflecting growing resentment in Lebanon against Iranian militia influence, Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP), urged the Lebanese people, opposition parties, MPs, and activists to engage in civil disobedience to protest these violations.

Mrad condemned the actions of Hezbollah, a pro-Iranian group, accusing them of endangering Lebanese lives by deploying weapons under the pretext of defending the country. He emphasized that these violations must not be tolerated, labeling Hezbollah as an occupying militia that serves the interests of Iran, imposing its agenda at the expense of the entire Lebanese nation, including the Shiite community.

Mrad called on Lebanese citizens to withhold taxes, arguing that these funds are being misused to finance Hezbollah, which he claims continues to occupy and exploit the Lebanese people. He also appealed to the international community to intervene militarily to disarm Hezbollah rather than negotiate with the group, demanding that they withdraw from Lebanese borders and cease the flow of weapons and militias into the country.
