Ashtarut Women’s House in Zalin, North and East Syria, vandalized by unknown assailants amid rising tensions

ZALIN, North and East Syria — Staff at the Ashtarut Women’s House in the Bashiriya neighborhood of Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, arrived to find their office signboard vandalized and discarded on the ground, following an attack by unknown assailants.

Officials from Ashtarut and the Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) reported that the incident occurred on Friday night when Ashtarut’s sign was forcibly removed and thrown into the street.

The SWU strongly condemned the act of vandalism and promptly filed an official complaint with local security authorities, urging a swift investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Some Union officials noted that this act of sabotage coincides with the recent controversy surrounding the Al-Rafidain company, which has fueled tensions among the city’s diverse communities.

The SWU reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the brotherhood of peoples and peaceful coexistence among all communities in North and East Syria.
