Cross re-installed in Ain Ghossein Square in Zahle, Lebanon, after public outcry

ZAHLE, Lebanon — In response to widespread public demand, the cross in Ain Ghossein Square, located in the Al-Midan neighborhood of Zahle, Lebanon, was re-installed just hours after its removal by the municipality. The cross had been taken down under the pretext of obstructing traffic safety.

Father Tony Rizk addressed the situation in a press statement, confirming that the cross was restored to its original place. He emphasized that removing the cross in such a manner was unacceptable. He also explained that when the cross was initially installed, no one was aware that a permit was required. Father Rizk noted that they have since communicated with the municipality to secure a legal permit, ensuring that the cross will not face removal again.
