NORTH AND EAST SYRIA: Civilians killed in Zalin car bomb explosion, Russian Patrols face local resistance
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria have reported a deadly explosion in the Al-Antariya neighborhood of Zalin (Qamishli), where an explosive device planted inside a car detonated, killing two civilians. The blast occurred near the local postal center, prompting immediate responses from security forces and the local community.
Residents of Al-Antariya expelled a Russian military patrol that arrived to inspect the explosion site, accusing the Russians of colluding with Turkey. Tensions have been high in the region, exacerbated by the frequent joint patrols conducted by Russian and Turkish forces.
Earlier, a Russian-Turkish patrol in the countryside of Al-Jawadiya, starting from the village of Dirona Agha, faced strong opposition from local residents. As the patrol advanced, demonstrators rejected its presence, leading to a violent response from Russian forces, who used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse the crowd. During the confrontation, a citizen named Avin Issa was run over by the patrol vehicle, necessitating her immediate hospitalization.
