Meanwhile, UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence and instability in various parts of Syria. In a video briefing to the UN Security Council, Pedersen highlighted that last month’s violence not only resulted in significant civilian casualties but also introduced new threats to international peace and security.
Pedersen underscored that Syria’s challenges cannot be effectively addressed without a political process aligned with UN Security Council Resolution 2254. He emphasized that a comprehensive political solution, restoring Syria’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity, must be grounded in an internal Syrian political process facilitated by the UN.
