The 4th Annual Mardutho Festival kicks off in Hasakah, North and East Syria
HASAKAH, Syria — The 4th Annual Mardutho Festival, organized by the Syriac Cultural Association with the Culture Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), kicked off in Hasakah, North and East Syria.
The festival was attended by representatives of institutions of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) and the DAARNES, as well as a crowds of peoples of the region.
The first day of the festival included the speech of the Syriac Cultural Association, as well as presenting artistic and musical performances on the heritage and culture of the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people.
In comments to our news desk, the General Official of the Syriac Cultural Association Ibrahim Adamo stated that the festival is within the annual plan of the Syriac Cultural Association, and it witnesses a remarkable development.
Adamo declared that the festival witnessed the participation of the Association’s bands and choirs, in addition to bands of Syriac people’s institutions from different regions.
“The festival represents culture, originality and heritage. It also includes participants from all ethnic components,” he added.
The administrator of the Syriac Cultural Association Mirna Shamoun stated that the festival was rich with the participation of 6 folklore groups, singing and choir groups, as well as solo singers.
The festival is scheduled to last for 2 days, and it will be concluded with honoring the participating teams, in the Azadi Park in Zalin (Qamishli).
he Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) and Sutoro Women secured the festival.
