UK imposes sanctions on Iran’s Quds Force and key members
LONDON — According to a blacklist published on the British government website, the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on Unit 700 of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, which is responsible for smuggling supplies and equipment.
Three members of the Quds Force — Abdolfatah Ahvazian, Behnam Shahriyari, and Hamid Fazli — have been added to the sanctions list.
Additional restrictions, including a ban on entry into the UK and asset freezes, have been imposed on Hamid Fazli, the commander of one of the units of the IRGC.
Ahvazian has been involved in hostile activities by the Iranian government aimed at destabilizing the UK, as well as in efforts to destabilize Israel, Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon.
The sanctions list indicates that Unit 700 of the Quds Force has been involved in developing and planning destabilizing activities within the UK.
