Documentary film ‘Souls in Transit’ screened in Bern, highlighting Syriac history and displacement
BERN, Switzerland — The documentary Souls in Transit was screened at the Kino Rex Hall in Bern, Switzerland. The screening was attended by representatives from the Catholic and Evangelical Churches, as well as institutions representing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community.
Following the screening, a discussion was held with the filmmakers and the director, Aida Schlafer, addressing the documentary’s message, script, and international success after being shown in several countries.
The documentary, presented in Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and Arabic with German subtitles, draws connections between the 1915 Sayfo Genocide and the migration and displacement of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people after the Islamic State (ISIS) took control of Nineveh Plains in Iraq.
