Institutions in Tur Abdin prepare to host annual Suroyo TV gala for first time
MEDYAD, Turkey — Evgil Türker, president of the Federation of Syriac Associations in Turkey (Süryani Dernekler Federasyonu, SÜDEF), spoke to our news desk about the preparations for Suroyo TV’s annual ceremony, set to take place on 15 September in Medyad (Midyat), Turkey, in the historic Tur Abdin region.
Türker announced that the ceremony will feature participation from Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities both in the homeland and diaspora, alongside supporters and employees of the Suroyo Media Foundation. The event will span three locations: Turkey, the US, and Germany.
He highlighted that the program will include singing and folklore performances, as well as the honoring of individuals who have contributed to or supported the foundation. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Suroyo TV.
Türker encouraged the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community to attend and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the channel, which has been a vital voice for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, offering news, programs, and cultural content.
