Feast of the Cross jointly celebrated with procession and prayers in Ankawa, Kurdistan Region of Iraq
ANKAWA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The annual Feast of the Cross commenced with a candlelight procession and prayers, beginning at the Mar Elijah Shrine and concluding at the Mar Yukhanna Cathedral in Ankawa, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
The procession featured hymns, prayers, and speeches and was attended by prominent religious leaders, including Chaldean Archbishop of Erbil Mar Bashar Matti Warda, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Mosul and Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk) Mor Nicodemus Daoud Matta Sharaf, and Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Hadyab Mar Nathanael Nizar Semaan.
Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel, welcomed the archbishops and a large gathering of believers as the flame of the Feast of the Cross was lit in the cathedral courtyard, creating a joyful atmosphere for the occasion.
