BEIRUT — On the 42nd anniversary of the assassination of former Lebanese President Bashir Gemayel and his comrades, a commemorative event was held in the Achrafieh neighborhood in Beirut, to honor their memory by laying wreaths at his shrine. Gemayel was killed in a bombing, widely believed to have been orchestrated by the Syrian regime.
The ceremony was attended by Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP), along with representatives of Christian political parties, Members of Parliament, government officials, Kataeb Party members, and other notable figures from Beirut.
