Assyrian Democratic Movement hosts delegation of Syriac-Assyrian political parties in Syria following successful general conference in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The leadership of the Assyrian Democratic Movement (Zowaa) welcomed a delegation from the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) political parties in Syria to celebrate the success of its 11th General Conference in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). The Syrian delegation included Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Sanharib Barsom, official of the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) Gabriel Moshe, and head of the Assyrian Democratic Party (ADP) Executive Body Ninos Esho.

The Zowaa delegation was led by Yaqoub Korkis Yaqo, the newly elected General Secretary, accompanied by Sami Ishaq, a member of the Political Bureau, and Nabil Melhem, a member of the Central Committee.

The Syrian delegation congratulated the Zowaa leadership on the successful conference, the election of the new leadership, and expressed hope for continued progress in their struggle.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the shared challenges faced by the Assyrian and Syriac communities in Iraq and Syria, with a commitment to strengthening national unity and advancing the legitimate rights of their people in both countries.

The delegation also visited the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian People’s Council at its headquarters in Erbil. They were received by the Council’s President, Jamil Abdel-Ahad, Party Secretary Ninos Siawush, member of the Political Bureau Halan Hormuz, and members of the Central Committee Amjad Abdel-Ahad and Raviva Eliyah.

The delegations discussed ways of joint cooperation in addressing the issues facing the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Syria and Iraq and increasing coordination between the two parties.
