Bethnahrin Patriotic Union meets with Baghdede Notables, Iraq, to discuss regional challenges of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people
BAGHDEDE, Iraq — In an effort to address key issues concerning the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Nineveh Plains, official of the Baghdede Local Committee of the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) Samer Shamoun welcomed a delegation from the Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniyah) Council of Notables. The delegation was led by Sabri Majeed Zaki, accompanied by several members of the council’s administrative body.
The meeting was also attended by HBA Chairman Youssef Yacoub Matti and head of the Bartella Local Committee Elias Matti Shaba.
During the discussions, the two sides reviewed the political and general situation in the region, with a particular focus on the concerns and challenges facing the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people. Matti emphasized the crucial need to safeguard the population census and preserve the rich history of their communities in the region, stressing the importance of coordinated efforts to protect their cultural and demographic presence amidst ongoing regional instability.
